Get a headstart on 2023 by using my action-prompting questions.
I like goals, but goals don’t prompt action.
I’ve looked back over the questions that prompt the most innovative growth results for my clients, and I’ve carefully curated a list of the most effective ones.
The 21 questions I have included are powerful. They may seem simple, but that does not belittle their effectiveness.
And being simple questions does not automatically mean they will be quick and easy to answer.
They will, however, help you create a laser focus on what to do versus what not to do for 2023. Meaning you get more stuff done faster, producing better results.
If you can commit to answering just a few of these questions, I can guarantee that you will get improved results.
You will see profound results if you can commit to answering and acting on all the questions.
You’ll also have a sense of clarity, calm and confidence.
These questions take care of the unknown.
Provide clarity in a world of confusion.
Provide focus when there are so many tempting time-consuming distractions.
If you start to answer these questions now, you are a step ahead of the pack.
You’ll avoid the new year fog, over-reached goals and resolutions.
Instead, you’ll already have momentum and motivation to execute to boot.
No more playing catch-up.
No more overwhelm.
Let’s get started!
You can tackle the questions one by one or start with the questions that push your buttons the most.
Either way, you’ll get traction.
Q#1. What specific behaviours, activities, or processes do you and your team need to stop in 2023?
You're already doing good work. Identify the things that are working and keep on doing them.
Identifying the new things you need to start doing makes life simpler. Be clear about what that thing is. Is it a new behaviour, an activity, a process...?
Problems, challenges, dangers. We all have them. Call them out, and make it a priority to get rid of them form the get go!
Maybe there's a new market opportunity, a service solution... Name it and claim it as yours to own and capitalise on.
Uncover those super powers you or your organisation have that could turned up for full advantage.
It's easy to get overwhelmed when we think of all the things we could do. Narrow your focus and reduce your cognitive load and ineffective activities by focusing on what matters most.
AI, bots, automations are all there for the taking. If automation isn't on the cards, look at outsourcing opportunities instead.
Misunderstanding cost us valuable time, money and energy. Not to forget the negative impact on customer experience. Sort them out.
Flip your mistakes into mistake proof processes. Are the mistakes slip ups (the right process executed incorrectly), real mistakes (the wrong process is executed), or black outs (part of the process is forgotten)?
Eliminate the surprise problems by analysing where and when the existing ones are appearing.
Most processes were created years ago. If it's getting overloaded it's time to give it an overhaul.
Think like a futurist and capitalise on the right trends. Use some trend spotting sites or tools to help. Check out a list of trend spotting tools here.
The world changes fast as do the values and beliefs of customers. Knowing what they value and believe makes business easier.
Needs change due to changes in the economy, society, technology etc. What new needs do you need to cater for?
I create new goals every year. I'm sure your customers aspirations and goals have changed too. Clarify what they are so you can better help them achieve it with your product or service offering.
Successful disruption starts by identifying an underserved or unmet need. They exist, because people organisations have blindspots and don't always know the customers as well as they could
Think of all the things that you could leverage in other parts of the business, or license for others to use.
Name the limiting self talk that's been stopping you or your team. Maybe there's a limiting belief around technology or capability worth replacing.
Create a list of all the behaviours that together will create the outcome you are looking to achieve. Remember that lots of small behaviours will all add up to create a big impact.
Last but not least some goals. 90 day goals are better to focus on than yearly ones because things change so quickly in business and you can track your progress faster and also keep focus on taking action to get there.
